Welcome

Hello Ohio,

Just wanted to let you know that as of 17 April 2012 I am still here.  I haven’t written in any of my websites since right after the election.  Marylin was diagnosed with cancer the last week of Feb and recently I’ve not felt the duty to try and influence the political environment.  Instead, I’ve been concentrating more on the family.  I do have some ideas I’d like to write out but not sure when I will get to them.  Let me know if you would be interested in being part of a non-affiliated (independent) candidate organization.  Not sure that I plan to run again in 2014 but I really would like to see good candidates that aren’t obliged to either the Republican or Democratic parties.

For those of you that are new to the site:

I am a fiscal conservative that ran in the Democratic primary. I ran as an idealist trying to change the political atmosphere. I have never taken a monetary campaign contribution and have made the commitment that if elected in November I never would have taken a contribution.

Being an idealist is great but I also support my idealism with substance. I’ve earned a Bachelors degree in Physics/Mathematics and a Masters Degree in Education. Unlike the traditional politician that once they have your attention they ask for money, the purpose of this website is to inform you about the experiences, research, and knowledge that help me develop the strategies we need to expand the opportunities throughout this country. I know providing you this background will allow you to contribute to the strategy and improve the results far more than one single individual could ever achieve.
Please explore  the website.  I bet you’ll find I’m a great candidate and will be an even better congressman:

  1. Tom, while your views may be appealing, you will still caucus with Nancy Pelosi and likely vote the way the party dictates. Ask Bart Stupak how that works. He voted against his conscience and constituents in return for a hollow promise that was never made good.

    Thanks, but no thanks!

JJ – I refer you to my article “It’s Time for a Non-Affiliated Primary” as I have already addressed this subject there.

  2. Tom,
You would bring fiscal responsibility and creative thinking to Washington where these are truly rare commodities. Congress and the Democratic Party desperately need your perspective, your background, and your love of country. God bless you and best of luck to you in your campaign.

  3. What is your stance on the attack on religious groups by the Obama administration concerning the health care bill concerning contraceptions and abortion? I live in the Pickerington area that you will represent if elected.

    Patrick,

I believe your characterization of the Obama administration policy as an attack on religious groups is inaccurate. The fact that it contradicts the desire of the leadership of some religious groups is an unintended bye product of an attempt to improve healthcare coverage for women. As for the administration’s new attempt to claim that the religious groups won’t be paying the cost but the health insurance companies will have to provide it; 1. if the religious groups aren’t paying a lower cost than companies with comparable policies then the change in government implementation is just semantics or 2. if the government is forcing the insurance companies to lower the price of the religious groups insurance compared to some other company then I am against it because I do not believe the government should be in the business of getting discounts for religious organizations.

Concerning whether the service should be covered, I’ll promote my self pay option again. If we were on the three method system I believe would be better, most of the money now going to Health insurance companies would be paid to the employee. The employee would be entitled to “Health Insurer rates” and would then have the choice to use that money as they desired. This would take the employer’s desires right out of the equation.

For reference Pickerington will be in the 15th Congressional district not the 10th.

    • The administration, by regulatory fiat not act of congress, is compelling Catholic institutions to provide something which their doctrine has always thought to be sinful. That is to say they are being compelled to act contrary to their right to practice their religion as they see fit. Regardless the cost or who bears it, they are being compelled to provide it. Nobody covered by the health insurance plan at Georgetown University is being denied the ability to seek or obtain contraceptive devices or services. The First Amendment prohibits the government from restricting the free exercise of religion, where in the constitution does it say that say, “except as it may affect contraception, abortion and sterilization”?

  4. Hey Tommy (You said I could call you that even though you are older now).
Everybody says it takes money to get into office, but this is something that you have wanted since you were in high school and I wish you good luck in getting elected. You have good ideas and I know you will work at them. You are not a quitter. Sure would vote for you if we lived in Ohio. Love you and your family so much.

  5. Tom love the the site and the information about your views and your back ground.I cant waite to see Tom McMasters in Congress working hard for us.

  6. Hey, I know that a certain administration campaigned on change, but what we need to do is CHANGE what’s going in Washington. Meaning, there are too many people in congress who have become LIFERS in the political world. You can say McMasters doesn’t have the experience to run for the big leagues, well I beg to differ. Those who have been in congress for 20 plus years and run on their “experience” are the same experienced ones who got us all into the situation our country is in. My question is, how experienced do you need to be, to actually care for our country and it’s people? McMasters is the type of person who is running for the people, not to line his pockets with inside trading money. Our government is suppose to be a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. Right now it’s going the other way.

Vote this man in for District 10 and lets get Ohio and this country back on track. We need to get the selfish and greed out of Washington and with Thomas McMasters in district 10, we can do that.

  7. I agree with Tom. We need to make much smarter choices when it comes to government spending. We as tax-paying citizens owe it to our children and grandchildren to clean up this mess and reduce the deficit before things get more out of control. I support Tom’s bid for the 10th Congressional District. I think he has what it takes to make real change in the way things are done in Washington, D.C. Let’s all get behind a working man who will work hard for all of us!
